Foundation Studies, the first in the series, introduces foundational vocabulary common across all styles of snare drum performance. Rudimental vocabulary, accents, contemporary techniques, compositional concepts, and musical devices are progressively introduced across 20 studies that span many styles, meters, and traditions.
The pieces present an array of challenges, including different roll types, tuplets and odd time signatures, syncopated rhythmic themes, and diverse stylistic ideas.
