Dekatria is a challenging and long piece for solo snare drum. Composed around mathematical principles and the number thirteen, it explores themes of numerical composition and the transition between a predetermined set of accents.

The piece is dedicated to Bob Becker, as many of the compositional principles were inspired and influenced by his work.

The piece is divided into thirteen 13-bar sections, with each possessing an individual character and theme. It is seven pages long, and takes about seven and a half minutes to perform at the given tempo. It is a challenging piece for advanced players, but represents a robust and comprehensive tour de force on the snare drum.
